Team Honda HRC rider sidelined for at least the next two rounds.
A last lap clash with Vince Friese (Smarttop Bullfrog MCR Honda) at Daytona’s 10th round of Monster Energy Supercross has resulted in a hand injury for Justin Brayton, the Team Honda HRC rider anticipating to miss at least the next two rounds.
Brayton’s former teammate Friese frantically entered a turn, colliding with the number 10 while putting them both on the ground.
The Iowa native remounted to finish 10th, however further scans this weekend have revealed he’s suffered a fracture to the metacarpal on his left pinky finger.
“Unfortunately I got taken down on the last lap in Daytona which resulted in a broken hand,” Brayton stated. “I was still able to finish the race in tenth but knew right away something was wrong.
“Gonna take a couple of weeks off then have it re-evaluated. Hate I have to miss a race or two but I don’t think it’s worth risking it with limited strength in my hand.”
Brayton will likely make a return to racing following Seattle’s 13th round, scheduled for 28 March.
