A lingering illness eventually caught up with Zach Osborne at the opening round of Monster Energy Supercross in Anaheim, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing entry declaring he had nothing left to give during the night show.

The former dual 250SX East champion explained he came down with a fever on Tuesday leading up A1, which heavily impacted his performance on Saturday night.

His situation was only worsened by a frightening heat race crash, where he was forced to qualify for the main event via the last chance qualifier. In the 22-lap encounter, he mustered up a P14 result.

“The first round didn’t go the way I would have liked,” Osborne admitted. “I’ve had a flawless off-season and it’s a bummer to come in super prepared on a great bike/team and then get sick – I’ve had a fever pretty much since Tuesday and tonight I just had nothing left to give.”

Round two of Monster Energy Supercross will be hosted in St. Louis, Missouri, this Saturday, 11 January.
